In-person at Natural Creativity, Germantown
10:00 AM-12:00 PM: The Art of Biology + Lab with local science educator Linnea deRoche
12:00 - 1:00 PM: Lunch/Break
1:00 - 3:00 PM: English Language and Composition with Jelani Wilson, local author and English language teaching artist​

Successful completion of each course will result in credits aligned with PA homeschool standards (1 science credit and/or 1 English credit). We see the English class as especially helpful for students preparing to take English classes at community college.​​​​

Who is NC Academy for?

Enrollment is open until Sept 10, 2026 (First class Sept 18). Interested applicants will should send their interest to ncacademy@naturalcreativity.org. We will talk through your goals and how they fit with our offerings. ​​

Math Tutoring on Fridays w/ Shane Riggins
1-on-1 math tutoring (any level) is available with NC math specialist, Shane Riggins. Bring your textbook questions, online learning confusion, and Rubik's cubes!$25/hr. This can take place during either class, if you are not signed up for it.
Shane loves talking math with math skeptics, math enthusiasts, and everyone in between.

The Origin of NC Academy
2015: Natural Creativity incorporates as a 501(c)3 nonprofit with the goal of making self-directed education/alternative homeschooling/unschooling accessible for Philadelphia families of all incomes.

2026: Based on the input of teens, their parents, and recent alum, it becomes apparent that our homeschooled high schoolers want to have more options for formalized instruction that connects their interests to credit-worthy classes. We created NC Academy with the goal of hosting two yearlong academic classes at NC on Fridays, starting in September 2026. The experiment begins…

The Latin motto, "supra scholar sapeientes" translates to "above school, the wise."
